I started using this product this earlier this year and it is fantastic. At first i had to order it from Fastenal but i'm finding more locations that stock it readily. One thing to keep in mind, they also warn about it on their website, is that any paints or finishes that contain iron (i.e. red ...

Sorry for the late reply, summer work blew up and I have barely been at home since May. Needless to say I haven't accomplished much except to find more work that I need to do to it :) . I think I need to get this engine cleaned and back together and running. My cylinder is shot but the head is still ...

Thats a very tempting offer. That would take care of everything I need to clean and then some, but its a little out of my price range. I don't know what I would use it on after I finished with this bike. I don't see myself having the time to take on another project after this for a while.

It is expensive, but given the amount of cleaning I'd be doing, I might be able to justify it. The Sharpertek model is a little out of my price range but the Kendal may be reasonable. I"m going to explore other options before I pop for one though. I"m going to check out the local machinist shop to ...

I've been eyeing a sharpertek or a kendall. Sharpertek is a little more expensive and i'm not sure I want to spot the money for that. The dirt and muck is caked on the outside of the engine parts so thick and in the crevices that ultrasonic cleaning seems to be the best way to get it. But honestly ...

I've been to radio shack but wasn't impressed with the selection. Both locations here seemed very picked over.

As an alternative a co-worker of mine recommended marine type connections. Time to investigate.

Electrical connectors

Anyone know a good place to source electrical spade connectors. I am going to replace the existing connections.

Thanks

Thanks for the info.

I started at it with a 3m pad I had laying around and it seemed to work, though slowly. I had my dremel tool out for some other work and in the box of attachments I found these things.

They had the same feel and consistency of the 3M pad so I decided to give it a go on a less ...

Some help needed

What is the best way to remove old gasket material from the mating surfaces of the engine parts. I'm having a hell of a time trying to get it off and I do not want to start scraping away.

Is there something good to spray on to break it up?

I"m getting some more posts worked out for the blog. Lots of pictures of the engine tear down and what not. I've got to buy a tool to remove the clutch and then I should be able to finish tearing the engine down.

My parts list is growing, but I expect the bike should last quite a while more once i ...

haha, i actually had time to get back into it last night. There are a few things that I have to order first for the engine. That is my main focus right now, then the frame. As for the forks, I have taken them apart which is very easy. Thats where it stops. I thought I would have to buy new tubes but ...
